In rain forest equatorial areas, growing demographic pressure leads to intensive tree management in agrosystems. This range from the archaic use of spontaneous ligneous vegetation to regenerate soil exhausted by slash-and-bum cultivation to the skillful construction of sustainable, diversified and constantly changing agroforestry systems. Research and development can accompany this trend.
