TAMAO 2025 symposium – Remote sensing applied to mapping the state and dynamics of West African mangroves: towards the end of controversies? 18-20 December 2025, Thiès, Senegal.
Special issue on Tropical Woods and Forests. Manuscript to be submitted by 3 November 2025.
Mangroves are key ecosystems for climate regulation, biodiversity and coastal protection. However, their study in West Africa faces a number of challenges, notably the heterogeneity of remote sensing methods and the lack of field validation.
This symposium aims to bring together researchers and experts to discuss scientific controversies and explore new approaches to improving the mapping and monitoring of mangroves in West Africa.
