Acacia nilotica subsp. tomentosa is abundant in Djibouti, where it forms an important part of the fodder of goat herds in areas and seasons in which herbaceous pasturage is particularly sparse. The traditional system of exploitation of Acacia nilotica can serve as a basis for the development of management rules adapted to existing needs. The appearance of a sterile adult prickly form is described, and the nutritional value of the various parts of the tree is examined.
