The woody potential of the Guianese forest is very important: it covers 95 % of the area of the French department. Traditionally, especially timber is harvested.
Without impairing the regeneration of the future forest, more wood could be harvested. Sawing waste could also be used more adequately. In this article, the author describes the actions which would enable more outlets to be found, above all thanks to the woods' energy properties. An action concerning the setting and distribution of metallic kilns has been carried out.
