Abstract

About 300 species of edible fruit-yielding trees, shrubs, lianes and palm trees from the Guianese forest have been repertoried up to now. The most commonly found families are Melastomataceae, Leguminosae, Palmae, Myrtaceae and Passifloraceae. Some fruit can be identified very easily. In this article, the author gives information on the most well-known fruit. He also mentions a Jew tips on harvesting - or precautions.
