In order to promote the construction of wooden dwellings in French-African territories, the author recalls, first of all, a few golden rules for ensuring their protection against rot (fungus-growtd) and insects (termites and winged pests). With the help of plans and drawings, he outlines a general scheme for wooden dwellings, laid down in accordance with these rules, with full details for their erection — their appointment being left to depend on the needs of their occupants. This standard dwelling has been studied in view of ensuring sufficient comfort (white enabling the householders to fit it up exactly as they please), without impairing, in any way, the simplicity of design and construction, pointed out by the author.
