The IRG54 meeting of the International Research Group on Wood Protection will be held on 28th May – 1st June 2023 at the Pullman Hotel in Cairns, Queensland in Australia.
It is going to be a great venue and a fabulous meeting, so please start planning now to join us!
The International Research Group on Wood Protection (IRGWP) is the leading global organization for the dissemination of scientific information on wood protection products.

Topics and special scientific sessions
The usual topics of the IRG54 conference Australia will be focused on Biology, Test Methodology and Assessment,
Wood Protecting Chemicals, Processes and Properties, Sustainability & Environment.
In addition, IRG54 will organize this year two special scientific sessions about «Tropical woods: Natural and
conferred durability» and «Termites: Biology and Management».
For either of the Special Sessions, please fund more details on the conference website, and contact the IRG Secretariat directly to express your interest, and/or to submit your paper, indicating your wish to participate in the Special Sessions.

Ron Cockcroft Award (RCA)
The IRG54 conference in Australia is reaching out beyond the research and industry community who attend on a regular basis, and beyond our historical scope of wood preservation. Young scientists, in particular, are encouraged to participate.
The RCA is a merit-based program to promote international awareness of developments in research in wood protection, by assisting selected persons enabling them to participate in IRG conferences. The RCA is intended primarily to assist post-graduate research students and active younger scientists, who, for financial reasons might otherwise be unable to attend an IRG conference.
