Abstract

Three species of Tapinanthus, the African mistletoe, were identified on the shea tree, Butyrospermum paradoxum (Gaertn. f.) Hepper subsp. parkii, in Burkina Faso: T. dodoneifolius (DC) Danser, T. globiferus (A. Rich.) Danser and T. ophiodes (Sprague) Danser. Their geographic distribution and their ecology were studied. About 95 % of shea trees were parasitized by these semi parasites in Burkina Faso.
