The timber industry in Reunion is in full development.
Local production, which currently meets only 4 % of needs, should represent by the year 2000 about 20 % of the timber used by the islands inhabitants.
In order to face the demands of an expanding market, the inhabitants have organized the timber industry structured around a steering committee, which combines all the economic partners of the island.
