Blisters and stripping are occasionally observed on panels of Okoumé plywoods. Research and tests by the author have indicated that the main cause of these defects is the improper adjustment of the pressure var of the veneer-peeling machine, which is set too high or with excessive pressure. Secondary causes such as abnormal wear or poor maintenance of the machine, and unduly prolonged use of the cutters or pressure bar, may also contribute. Strict observance of the operating directives will eliminate blisters and stripping of the panels.
