Abstract

We investigated over a two-year period (1984 to 1986) the level of pregnant ewes slaughtered and the subsequent losses of lambs at the Yaounde abattoir. The following results were obtained: out of the 1,289 slaughtered ewes, 718 (55,7 %) were pregnant; 32,3 % of them carried 0 to 1 month pregnancy, those at 1 to 2-month pregnancy representing 20,6 % each, while ewes at 3 to 4 and 4 to 5 months were less represented with 14,8 and 11,7 % respectively.
