Certain soils carry very considerable risks of erosion (for example, on river banks), and must not be chosen for plantations.
The use of Dieldrin or substitute products is necessary to prevent any risk of attack by termites.
The date of plantation must be carefully chosen: calculation of the percentage probability of rain within at least three days has made it possible to define the most likely favourable periods. They vary from one station to another, and in many cases lie between the end of the first fortnight of July and the beginning of the second fortnight.
Plantation in pots is the most commonly employed method. The technique and the cost are examined at the conclusion of the article.
