Abstract

Sheep data production in Martinique are kept since 1984 after better management and husbandry have been introduced in the farms. Results of reproduction, mortality of lambs and growth rate are commented. Reproduction characteristics for local sheep are no seasonal anoestrus and good prolificness. Growth rate has been improved but can still be increased by better management and more selection. More accurate analysis of these data are presented in two other communications.
