Abstract

The author presents the results of a study on the effect on indigenous pigs of berberine tannate (bertamix), a growth promotor extracted from Cossinium fenestratum (Gaertn) Colebr. and trunck bark of Terminalia chebula Retz which are available in large amount in Vietnam. The addition of BertamixND at the rate of 5 p. 1000 in the diet for the pigs aged 3-5 months improves the weight gain by 21 % and feed conversion by 17,3 % with a reduction of 0.76 forage unit/kg of weight increase. The interest of use BertamixND as a growth promotor for meat pigs in Vietnam is discussed.
