In the scope of CRTA (Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso) tsetse flies control research, carried out in order to create a welcome pasture area in Sideradougou, the need of G. morsitans submorsitans Newstead, for the releases made this species 11,182 -breeding necessary. 11,182 pupae produced in bush by females captured in Comoe region (Southwestern Burkina Faso) have been carried to the CRTA to create a new parental generation at the end of 1981. After a long stationary period of adaptation, the goal has been touched during the year 1984. This article sums up the results obtained from the origin of the breeding until June 1984 (beginning of the mass production) and describes the difficulties occurred to adapt G. morsitans submorsitans. These results allow to foresee, to create this species breeding from a wild strain, a 2-year period of adaptation to the laboratory conditions and the feeding hosts.
