Beef prices in Dakar. Trends and seasonality from 1978 to 1987

Abstract

A retrospective study was carried out using simple econometrics applied to monthly prices of wholesale beef in Dakar slaughterhouse from January 1978 to December 1987. Graphs and statistical data are supplied together with a seasonal index. During the study, the beef price level only led to a few incitations to cattle and meat production. Furthermore, the seasonal index of monthly prices was characteristic for the cattle-meat subsector in Senegal.
