Abstract

Artificial insemination carried out in a temperate climate is not directly transferable to tropical countries because of specific constraints. From in station experiments on Baoulé (taurine) trypanoresistant cows, evidence was given that control of the sexual cyclis was possible when all the environmental conditions were fully controlled. Animals are spontaneously cycled and in good conditions. Without this control, artificial insemination is not easy to carry out in traditional husbandry systems except in special cases.
