Abstract

Infections of wild ruminants by herpesviruses are reviewed: infections by infectious bovine mammillitis virus, European and African forms of malignant catarrhal fever and infections by pseudorabies virus, caprine herpesvirus 1 and equid herpesvirus I. The range of susceptible species is detailed for each herpesvirus and the biological relationships between herpesviruses and their ruminant host species are discussed.
