A monographic study was undertaken on Ficus gnaphalocarpa which is the most woody forage used in the Northern province of Cameroon. The first part of the study showed the high seed production of this species (2.1206 x 106 seeds/kg), its easy multiplication in nursery (95 % germination rate), and the seed stock germination rate during forty months. The growth curve representing the size ‘Y’ (cm) according to age ‘x’ (month), was adjusted by the logistic model using the equation Y = 250/ (1 + 8 e-0.15x); r = 0.97. Plantations are exploitable after three years of growth and the management trials in progress will define the modalities (second Part).
