Abstract

Barymetric data were collected from 115 cattle, a trypanotolerant breed, in the Borgou Province, Benin. The weight (Y) was related to the thoracic perimeter (X) through a regression equation: ln Y = -8.081 + 2.712 ln X, with a coefficient of determination of r2 = 98 %.This equation was used to calculate an estimation table of body weight by means of the thoracic perimeter. According to the age-related body weights presented here, the value of 0.67 TLU was attributed per head of cattle kept under traditional, rearing conditions.
