Abstract

Experiments dealing with the behaviour of Glossina tachinoides towards the blue and white colours were carried out in Burkina. The comparative efficacy of a blue screen, white fabric or a respectively fine black terrylene netting was tested. Results show that blue is the most attractive colour as for Glossina tachinoides, but white incites a higher percentage of landing on the screen. The black terrylene netting increases the captures more than the white colour. Sex-ratio increases in favour of females. There is a high variability of results with seasons. The efficacy of white decreases because of its quick discoloration. Comparison with the results obtained on other species is discussed.
