Abstract

The purpose of this work was to investigate experimentally the use of ELISA for the diagnosis of Schistosoma bovis and S. curassoni schistosomoses in sheep in Senegal. A crude anti-gen from S. bovis adult worms was used with this test. The first anti-Schistosoma antibodies were detected by ELISA as early as the 6th and 9th weeks following S. bovis and S. curassoni infections, respectively, whereas fecal analysis results were negative up to the 8th and 10th weeks after S. bovis and S. curassoni infections, respectively.
