During a survey on the prevalence of Blue tongue in French Guiana, the authors did a faunistic study of the Culicoides species presumably associated, for some of them, with cattle. These species were caught in two different biotopes where cattle is abundant, a sylvatic and a coastal one. For each species the main morphological characters are described and the results compared with previous works. A key is proposed for the twenty five species actually recognized in French Guiana.
