Abstract

Field and abattoir monitoring, pulmonary lesions examination and virus isolation were associated in view of studying small ruminant respiratory diseases. In Mauritania, two seasonal peaks characterize the evolution of the enzootic respiratory pathology. On one hand, during the fresh season, two primary viral diseases i.e. PPR and
sheep-pox, and a multifactorial enzootic complex are prevalent. Serological findings show their importance and allow to consider as negligible aetiological significance of parainfluenxa 3 virus. On the other hand, during the rainy season (in winter) pulmonary lesions, after correlated with eosinophil infiltrations, are dominant and might be associated with lung response to migratory larvae.
