Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyse the expected impact of the establishment of the new mechanism of cotton prices to producers on the entire cotton subsector and on Malian economy, in comparison with the production costs and the institutional changes in progress within the subsector. The study highlights an important risk of impoverishment of the producers at the microeconomic level and potentially negative repercussions which are more than proportional on the whole Malian economy at the macroeconomic level.
