L'aviculture rurale au sud du Sénégal
Résumé
This study was conducted to evaluate the social and economic characteristics of rural poultry production in Upper-Casamance (Southern Senegal) for 111 households with 31% of their members possessing poultry. For a total of 1,211 people, 379 (53.6% women and 46.4% men) were owners of 1,978 poultry, with a mean number of 5.2 ± 4 units per owner. Women have important responsibilities in rural poultry production. Poultry management techniques are archaic and there is no pest and disease prevention follow-up. Improvement in housing and immunization are strategic investments for sustainable and profitable use of poultry resources in such rural areas.Téléchargements
